Overcoming Slavery In Freedom.

Topic: Overcoming Slavery In Freedom.

Text: Galatians 5 vs 1..

Confessions:

God has delivered me from the power of darkness and has translated me into the kingdom of His dear son. My deliverance is true, total and complete and I will not allow the enemy to hold me in bondage again in Jesus' name. Amen.

Exhortation:
J.J Rousseau, a French philosopher, in his hugely successful treatise: The Social Contract, asserted that: "man is born free, but everywhere he is in chains".  This may sound sensible to the natural man but it is not true to the child of God. Yes, there are chains, yokes, bondages, snares, devices, manipulation and bait of darkness around: a child of God is free from them as long as he does not embrace them. A child of God is not in chains; he is not in the pit and God has taken him out of the hold of darkness, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Apostle Paul says it all in Galatians 5 vs 1 that: "Stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage". The liberty of the believer is not a constitutional liberty: it is Calvary liberty! Constitutional liberty has limits, Calvary liberty is without any limit. What is this Calvary liberty? Liberty from sin, satan and the world. A Christian is free from sins. Sins are the working instruments of satan against anyone. You are not doing God any good by running away from sins, you are doing yourself a whole world of good!

All the sins that satan flaunts to the Christian: fornication, adultery, pride, anger, greed, deceit, lying, idolatry, occultism and all sorts are meant to enslave anyone who willingly fall for them and remain in them. A Christian may accidentally fall into a sin: he cannot remain in it if the spirit of God is in him. No wonder, brother John says in 1 John 3 vs 9 that: "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God". This is the freedom we have in Christ.

Slavery comes from iniquity. Every sin that a Christian commits, puts him in slavery. Therefore, if you love your freedom, don't commit iniquity. But this is not as simple as that. Temptations and trials abound everywhere- it is the power of grace through the name, blood, word and spirit of Jesus that saves the prayerful Christian from them. Most times, the pains of slavery do not worth the "pleasure" of sins that the unwary Christian settles for. So, what do we do? Pray without ceasing. Think about the sin and develop hatred for it.  Read the word of God daily and consistently. Choose your company because the company you keep determines what accompanies you. Rely on the Holy Spirit for everything and learn to ignore distractions that satan regularly sends to weaken your spirit.

The world outside the Christian world is for dogs; lions; wolves; serpents; scorpions, beasts and other wild animals. You don't have to venture into such a world. Guard your freedom jealously and no slavery will succeed with you. The believer's  authority( Luke 10:19); deliverance( Colossians 1:13, 2 Tim. 4:18); preservation( Psalm 91:1-16); prosperity( 3 John:4); redemptive rights( Rev. 5:12), inheritance( Psalm 16: 5-6, 1 Peter 1:4) and other packages are housed in our obedience to God. Anything short of this is slavery and yokes of bondage. You will not be entangled in this again in Jesus' name. Amen. Shalom.

Song:

MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING ELSE.

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

 Refrain:
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
  All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

Refrain:

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.

Refrain:

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Refrain:
