My Herod Must Die!

Topic: My Herod  Must Die!

Text: Matthew 2 vs 16-20; Psalm 63 vs 9-10.

Confessions: Through God I shall do valiantly for it is He that will tread down all my enemies in Jesus' name. Amen.

The Christmas spirit is a spirit of holy revelry. Rejoicing and merry-making are customary with the Xmas season. Jesus is the joy of the whole world and it is fitting that His birth brings forth immeasurable joy to those who value the King of glory. However, Jesus' birth also has its sobering realities. What are these realities? One of such is the threat of Herod against the glory of the Lord.

Herod was King when Jesus was born,  but the birth of Jesus and the prophecies that preceded His birth were troubling to Herod. A King of Jews? Herod was livid with rage at such a possibility. So, he discreetly told the wise men seeking to bless baby Jesus to come back to him with information "that I may come and worship him also". This, however, was not to be because God warned the wise men in a dream not to return to Herod.

The Bible says in Matthew 2 vs 16 thus: "Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men". All these were done to ensure that the destiny of Jesus was aborted. But God saved the Saviour by relocating Him to Egypt.

Every child of God has an Herod to contend with. And the Herod must die for his glory to manifest. Who is Herod? Herod is the physical realities of opposition, contention, murderous intention, envious competition, selfish comparison, wicked plotting and scheming against the counsel of God for any of His children. If such hostility rose up against Jesus, no anointing can insulate anyone from such opposition in this world.

There are no two ways to this: your Herod must die! Pharaoh had to die before the people of Israel could get to the promised land. King Uzziah had to die before the ministry of Isaiah could blossom. Saul had to die before David could ascend the throne. Kings Og and Bashan had to die for the Israelites to possess their land of promise. There are Herods in your foundation and neighborhood and office and church: they must die for you to be ahead! And you will be ahead in Jesus' mighty name.

If your progress is not smooth- sailing or hardship builds a mountain that you cannot scale, there is an Herod standing in the way. If your issues are in explainably hard and complex: an Herod is not far from the scene. If your businesses are crawling or nose-diving and you can't just understand what is happening: an Herod is around the corner. Today, that Herod will die and you will sing a new song in Jesus' name. You will surely break forth in Jesus' name. Amen. Shalom!

Worship the King of glory. Compose a carol and sing it all day!

9. Father, stretch forth your right hand against the wrath of my enemies and deliver me by your right hand in Jesus' name.
10. Holy Ghost, let your angels find me before agents of death find me in Jesus' name.
11. For my sake Lord, burn the radar of the enemy and hide me from his mirror in Jesus' name.
12. Jezebel pretending as Holy Mary, receive disgrace, fall permanently in Jesus' name.
13. Herod pretending as Apostle Paul, receive angelic slap and crumble in Jesus' name.
14. Lord, separate me from workers and recruiters of Hell in Jesus' name.
15. Ways and  means of destruction serving my life, close forever in Jesus' name.
16. Doors of doom and damnation ahead of me, refuse to open in Jesus' name.
17. Father, replace helpers piling up granites along my way in Jesus' name.
18. My joys will not end suddenly in Jesus' name.
19. Father, destroy powers importing curses into my blessings in Jesus' name.
20. Let the prayers of my enemies be sins and abomination before you in Jesus' name.
21. Thank you Lord for slaying my Herod by your mighty arm in Jesus' name.

Glory to God! Pls,  pray & share. God bless you. Pastor Dele Oyewale( December 8th, 2014).
