Divine Preference

Topic: Divine Preference.

Text: Isaiah 51 vs 2, Romans 9 vs 13.

Confession:

I'm serving  a God that loves me freely and fully. I'm the object of His favour; the focus of His affection, the target of His mercies, the centre of His grace and the force of His preference! I'm spotted  for His good success and my life is the fruit of His generous investments in Jesus' name.
Exhortation:

"Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him and increased him"( Isaiah 51 vs 2). According to the words of God quoted above, God called Abraham alone. He was singled out. He was chosen. He was preferred. There is no single scriptures that explains the basis for Abraham's choice by God. God exercised His righteous discretion to make him His friend. It is the same strange preference concerning Jacob in Romans 9 vs 13: "As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated". Peter John and James were not the only disciples of Jesus but they were the only ones in His inner caucus. It is all a matter of preference. God will prefer you for lifting and honour today in Jesus' name.

Divine preference is God's exercise of His sovereignty, discretion, omniscience and unsearchable greatness. He is the Lord of all and He is good to all but prefers some of His children to show forth His glory. The preference is always noticed in the winning ways of the preferred. It can also be perceived in the spirit He granted them. A right spirit is the best gift God can give to any of His children: God is spirit and those that will walk with Him must have His kind of spirit.

God's foreknowledge of a destiny might be a basis for his preference. As our maker, He is capable of taking a long-range view of man and His future possibilities. For example, God may have seen what choices Esau was capable of making, hence, His lack of preference for him. But largely, it is divine discretion as stated in 1 Samuel 2 vs 6-9 that determines what comes to each of the children of God. I pray that this discretion will favour you in Jesus' name.

Is God partial? No. The good thing about God's discretion is that it is not absolute. God can be persuaded by our prayers. He cannot be bribed but He can be impressed by our sacrifices. He can be moved by our obedience and His preference may come to us as result of our worship and praises. A gracious and loving God cannot be wicked to any of His children and this is why it is important to seek the face of the Lord all the time. As you do this today in prayers, His heart will move in your direction in Jesus' name.

Prayers changes situations. If you notice a disturbing trend in your life: please pray! Don't be like Esau who never prayed to God about his lot in life. Jabez observed a pattern of hardness and bitterness in his life and he sought the face of the Lord and his lot changed( 1 Chronicles 4 vs 9-10). Hannah may have remained childless but for her prayers. Even, when the good hands of the Lord are upon you; you still need to pray because the future is an uncertain friend: its favour can only be courted by prayers. As you pray today, God will make you His favorite and your glory will rejoice in Jesus' name. Amen.

Prayers.
